The world cup of soccer (football for most) is about to kick off in South Africa. In North America we may not appreciate the gravity of this event, but head down to the Little Italy of your town and try and tell them it doesn’t matter.

Soccer is as universal a game as their is, and is one of the number one participant sports here in North America. In Europe, South America, Asia, and Africa, however, it is a gigantic deal.

One needs only to look at the line-up of sponsors for the event to understand the magnitude.

Check out this latest ad effort from Nike Football featuring the great Cristiano Ronaldo.

Recently I stumbled on a great live show by the Vancouver based Dehli to Dublin and I honestly could not have been more impressed. After picking up my jaw from the floor I managed to pick up a CD, but I have a feeling that this is a band that is best seen live.

Their raw energy mixed with a clear Bhangra and Celtic influence was intoxicating. They attracted a hip, art savvy crowd who spent the night jumping and dancing up a storm.

The band consists of fiddler/violinist Kytami, Electric sitar player Andrew, Tabla drummer/DJ Tarun, Dhol drummer Ravi, and lead vocalist Sanjay. If you happen to notice these guys coming to your town and like an ecelectic mix of old and new age music definitely check out Dehli to Dublin.
